The scripture declares: “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Rom 8:29 The word “conform” in Greek means “jointly formed, similar, fashioned like unto.” God desires that we become jointly formed into the image of Jesus Christ. This process is done by the working of the Holy Spirit through God’s Word. As we behold Him, we are transfigured in ever increasing splendor into His own image and the transfiguration comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. The Spirit of God takes the Word and pokes me with it until I become one with that word. We can’t conform ourselves – we will fail. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to do the work in us.
